  • American Bankruptcy Institute Commission on Consumer Bankruptcy – Chapter 13 Advisory Committee member; Chapter 13 Plan Working Group member; liaison to Committee on Case Administration and the Estate; worked with top lawyers, judges, and trustees nationwide; tasked with researching and recommending to Congress improvements to the consumer bankruptcy system that can be implemented within its existing structure. Changes included amendments to the Bankruptcy Code, changes to the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, administrative rules or actions, recommendations on proper interpretations of existing law and other best practices that judges, trustees, and lawyers may implement [link to Commission’s Final Report]

  • State Chair – National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA). NACBA is the only national organization dedicated to protecting the rights of consumers in bankruptcy cases. Attorney Dolhancyk serves as the official liaison between NACBA’s leadership in Washington, D.C. and its member attorneys, bankruptcy judges, and other court officials in the state, as well as serving as primary contact for local media regarding consumer bankruptcy issues  [NACBA]

  • 11th Circuit Leader – Provide meaningful, insightful, and timely coverage of bankruptcy decisions impacting consumer attorneys and debtors within the purview of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (Georgia, Florida Alabama). Keep the membership apprised of developments and trends within the 11th Circuit and their impact on contemporary jurisprudence

  • Numerous reported bankruptcy cases, including Whaley v. Tennyson, 611 F.3d 873  (11th Cir. 2010); argued for client in landmark case setting the applicable commitment period for Chapter 13 cases

  • LL.M. (Master of Laws) International Business Law – Emory University School of Law

  • Bench and Bar Committee – Member/Advisor to the Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Georgia (2015-2017, 2022-present), advising on legal and procedural issues in the adoption of new model Chapter 13 Plan, Rights & Responsibilities, and other local bankruptcy issues [Georgia Bankruptcy Court]

  • Mentor – Georgia State University College of Law Bankruptcy Assistance Practice Program (“BAPP”). BAPP gives law students the opportunity to develop practical skills while helping an underserved sector of the greater Atlanta community. Local bankruptcy attorneys volunteer as mentors to assist and guide students through all aspects of a bankruptcy case. Students are active in the intake process, scheduling client meetings, gathering documents, attending client meetings and court hearings under the supervision of a mentor attorney [BAPP]

  • Admitted to Practice: United States Supreme Court, 6th and 11th Circuit Appeals Courts, and in Georgia, Tennessee, and New York (and is sometimes allowed in the kitchen)

  • Received his B.A. from the University of Tennessee and his law degree from the University of Memphis (where he visited Graceland and saw the Mississippi River)

  • Attorney Dolhancyk is a frequent speaker at national conferences on consumer bankruptcy law issues, including NACBA, ABI, and Atlanta Bar Association (and frequently lectures his two boys on various topics)
